A beautiful magical day with Kevon, Jenni, and Michael in Shelter Cove. Unbelievable beauty on the Lost Coast of California . . . the dramatic black sand beaches made from greywacke . . . the turquoise water of the Pacific Ocean . . . quiet and serene. I will always treasure this day . . . Kevon flying his kite . . . Jenni beachcombing . . . Michael and his picnic backpack of goodies . . . love love love! “Another glorious day, the air as delicious to the lungs as nectar to the tongue” . . . John Muir
Everyday I thank God for my husband . . . this letter is for you dear Kevon . . .
Happy Birthday!!! This is your day . . . to celebrate YOU . . . your birth . . . your journey . .. . your life! I want to start by saying I believe you are the best person I know . . . you are overall one of the greatest humans on this planet! There are many people who look up to you Kevon, including myself and our three children. Respect and commitment are two actions you live by and I commend that. You are honestly one of the best dads I have ever seen. You are a thinker and you are very wise. I am always in awe how you take time to process things and think before you speak. I feel such a sense of pride being your spouse!
I have had many different dreams, ideas, and desires in our 25+ married years together and you have supported them all, without complaint. Kevon, you truly are a blessing to all that know you and I am privileged to be your wife and partner. I know God sent you when you were suppose to be there . . . He gave me everything when He gave me you. I can’t wait to celebrate many many more birthdays with you my dear Kevon!
All of my love for all of my life,
Kevon, Jenni, and I ate lunch in the charming town of Florence, Oregon (HUGE flower baskets) and then hit the sand dunes!!! The dunes are exceptional for their wild beauty and serenity with the ocean steps away . . . love love love!! “There is a love of wild nature in everybody, an ancient mother-love showing itself whether recognized or no, and however covered by cares and duties” . . . John Muir
Council Crest is the highest elevation within the city limits of Portland. This is a beautiful park to enjoy magical views. Mt. Hood, Mt. Ranier, and Mount St. Helens are all visible from this point . . . amazing!!! After we visited the Audubon Society of Portland . . . love love love!!! The evening was the grand finale . . . I got to observe the swifts!!! This is one of Portland’s most spectacular natural events . . . thousands of Vaux’s Swifts gather in the city as they prepare to migrate to Central America and Venezuela. The swifts use the Chapman Elementary School chimney as an evening roost during their fall migration. The night we observed the swifts was the highest swift count of the season!!! Magical indeed . . . “Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before” . . . Anonymous
We spent a beautiful day on Sauvie Island . . . it is one of my favorite spots! This river island sits at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. We started our day picking apples with Joey for his hard cider and then to the magical beach on the Columbia. Loved watching my family . . . Kevon had great kite flying winds . . . Joey swam in the river . . . Jenni walked the beach looking for treasures . . . and I guarded the Juanita chips! Sauvie Island is a hot spot for fruits and vegies and huge sunflowers!!!! Perfect day! “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do” . . . Mark Twain
